Walking with Moms in Need

WWWIN-logo-2021[1].png

Pregnant and parenting moms in need are in our parishes and our neighborhoods. As Pope Francis reminds us, our parishes need to be “islands of mercy in the midst of the sea of indifference.” Everyone in our parish community should know where to refer a pregnant woman in need.

Therefore, our parish is joining a nationwide effort entitled: Walking with Moms in Need. As part of this initiative our parish will undertake a yearlong process to assess, expand, and better communicate resources to pregnant moms and families in our local community.

We invite all parishioners to join us as we embark on this journey together. There are several ways to get involved:

The Core Team

  • Will be composed of 5-10 parishioners (ideally 2-3 people from each parish of Our Lady of Good Hope, St. Mary of the Assumption, and St. Henry)

  • Will meet together throughout the Walking with Moms process and complete various tasks, including: completing the parish inventory of local resources, assessing and identifying gaps in resources, hosting town hall meetings, response planning and implementation with the approval of the pastor

  • Will act as an ambassador of the initiative in the parish

Parish Support Network

  • Parishioners who will be praying for the initiative and want to be kept updated on a regular basis

  • As we move along the process, the Core Team will reach out to the Parish Support Team for more help- such as hosting town hall meetings, implementing a parish response, etc.

If you are interested in being on the Core Team and/or Parish Support Network or for more information, please contact Jennifer Zwiers, jzwiers@stjohnpaulii.org or (937) 434-9231.  We would like to have a Core Team in place by the end of June.
